IGNOU Varanasi Regional Centre: This RC focuses on providing higher education in the Eastern Uttar Pradesh region. The RC started in 2006 as a sub-regional department, but later in 2008, it was upgraded to an individual section. Dr Upendra Nabh Tripathi is the operating senior regional director of this independent regional office.
Under this new regional centre, there are 19 districts such as Varanasi, Maharajganj, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Ambedkarnagar, Sultanpur, Ballia, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Mau, and Sant Kabir Nagar.

IGNOU Varanasi Admission Updates 2025
The Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts admission two times a year January and July. Soon, IGNOU will commence the admission procedure for the July 2025 academic session at the Varanasi Regional Centre from 12 May 2025* and the last date is 30 June 2025*. Students need to visit the official portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in in order to starts the admission process. Students residing in Varanasi can apply at the regional centre and submit the necessary documents with the fee.
Online application is possible with a laptop and an internet connection at their home or at a cybercafe. Here, students have to upload the scanned documents along with the registration charge. Students are requested to check the application twice before submitting it, because if there’s any wrong information or document, the application may get cancelled. IGNOU Varanasi Regional Centre Admission Process 2025
- On the official website of IGNOU Varanasi Regional Centre rcvaranasi.ignou.ac.in, navigate to the left side option “Fresh Admission” under the section “Quick Links”.
- It will lead you to the next page and click on “Link for New Admission” to be redirected to the IGNOU admission site, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Once on the website, follow the registration process by providing the email address, mobile number, and applicant’s name, set a user ID, password, and verification code and complete the process.
- Complete the sign-in process using the user ID and password.
- Continue with the form fill-up, program selection, and document upload such as scanned photograph and signature of the student, education certificate, category certificate, and experience certificate.
- Finally, pay the charge required for the registration, the amount is INR 300. Use credit and debit cards or net banking.

The regional centre is under the administration of Dr Upendra Nabh Tripathi, who functions as the senior regional director. Under the effective guidance of the director, the RC has a skilled team of teachers and staff, who assist the student with admissions, exams, and studies.
