IGNOU MAPY (Philosophy) Course Details
Master’s in Philosophy (MAPY) is offered by the School of Interdisciplinary & Trans-disciplinary Studies (SOITS) in the English language. However, students are allowed to write the exams in Hindi. For the completion of the course, a candidate has to earn 64 credits out of which 16 credits are compulsory courses and the other 48 credits are elective courses.

Candidates can select 6 credits in the first year and 6 credits in the second year covering subjects like Indian and Western philosophy, ethics, logic, the study of knowledge (epistemology), and the study of reality (metaphysics), etc.
IGNOU MAPY (Philosophy) Admission 2025
IGNOU admission form will be available for the July session of Master in Philosophy (MAPY) from 12 May 2025*. Students who are interested can apply by the tentative last date for IGNOU MAPY admission will be 30 June 2025*. The option of offline mode is also available for admission. Under offline admission, candidates have to visit the regional center to submit the admission form, and documents required for admission and pay the course fee.
IGNOU MAPY (Philosophy) Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for a Master of Arts in Philosophy (MAPY) are as follows:-
- A candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a UGC Approved university.
- 5% relaxation in the marks for those who belong to reserved categories like (OBC, SC, ST, PwD)
- There is no age limitation for enrolling in this program.

- After the registration click on the “Registered user login” visible right-hand side of the page and enter the username, password, and captcha.
- Also, if any candidate has forgotten the username or password, they can reset it by clicking on Forgot Password? Click to Reset your Password or Forgot Username?
- Now, finish the application form, upload the scanned documents, and don’t forget to recheck the form.
- Now make the payment via Credit card, Debit Card, and Internet Banking.
- Don’t forget to keep a screenshot of the submitted form and payment.
- After submitting this application, eligible students can apply for Government of India Scholarships on the official website, scholarships.gov.in.
