IGNOU Kohima Regional Centre: It was established as a special measure for overall educational development and to provide a vast network to the learners through support services of Sikkim and the North-East Region of India. The RC was founded in 2000, on the 14th of December to spread higher education and to offer more support to the students of Sikkim, North East Region, and six new regional centres.
These are in addition to the existing support offices in Guwahati and Shillong. The new centres are situated in the capital of each state, including Kohima. Dr. Premila Swamy D is the senior regional director of this RC in Kohima. This regional centre has 4 program study centres and 16 regular study centres under its supervision.
At the moment, there are a total of 61 active academic programs, and the regional office has 38,485 student enrollments (According to the report from 2004 to 2021). Under the jurisdiction of Kohima Regional Department, there are 13 exam centres for the term-end tests, 6 study centres with EDUSAT Terminals facilities, and 9 learning centres that have DRS Terminals facilities.

This RC also has two exam centres for administering the B.Ed entrance test and the OPENMAT examination for admission to the management program. The total number of admissions increased from 2001, it was 32, which developed to 811 in 2002. In 2021, the admission was 4679 in 63 programs in 20 learning centres across 11 districts.
Latest Notification Related to IGNOU Kohima Regional Centre
- The IGNOU admission to the July session of the 2025 year will commence at the Kohima Regional Centre. Students interested in the academic programs can apply from 12 May 2025.
- The IGNOU re-registration process will start as well at the Kohima Regional Centre for July academic session. Candidates can register for the next year or semester and can apply from 5 May 2025.

IGNOU Kohima Regiona Centre Admission Updates 2025
The admission process will commence at the IGNOU Kohima Regional Centre under the July academic session for all the offered courses on 12 May 2025*. The tentative last date is 30 June 2025* for IGNOU Admission at the Kohima Regional Centre into the July AY. The online admission form will be fill out at the official portal, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
Interested candidates have to open the site to register, login and apply for their desired program, and complete the process by paying the registration fee. If you are new to this system, refer to the below steps to understand the application procedure.
IGNOU Kohima Regional Centre Admission Process 2025
- Go to the official link of the regional office of Kohima rckohima.ignou.ac.in.
- From the homepage, at the center-left side of the page, under the “Announcements” click on “Admission Announcement for July 2025 session” then, click on either “Admission to ODL Programme” and then click to access the Samarth website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Once on the official site, click on the “Click here for new registration” button to enter information such as the username, password, mobile number, email address, and the name of the applicant. Click on “Register” to complete the registration.
- Now, log in using the registered details and upon entering the captcha, click on “Login”.
- After completing this, provide the required details in the online form, select a program, and submit the documents like the scanned papers such as the passport-size photograph and signature of the student, educational certificates, and others.
- Pay the registration fee of INR 300 using debit or credit cards or net banking.
