IGNOU Imphal Regional Centre: This regional centre of IGNOU started operating on December 1, 2000. The department was founded according to the university notification from the New Delhi headquarters. A memorandum was signed between the State Government of Manipur and IGNOU in 2013. From the inception of the regional centre, it has trained more than 5000 Government Primary Teachers in Elementary Education Diploma.
Dr. R.K. Ranjit Singh from 2006 is guiding the department as the senior regional director. The IGNOU Imphal Regional Centre has functioned to implement the mandate of the university in the area with the help of academic counsellors and learner support centres. The study centres associated with the IGNOU study centre are Manipur University SC, Moreh College, Moirang College, Jiri College, Jiribam, Presidency College SC, Motbung and Churachandpur College SC.
The Imphal regional office has 16 districts under its jurisdiction in Manipur, the districts such as Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati, Thoubal, and Ukhrul.

IGNOU Imphal Regional Centre Admission Updates 2026
Imphal Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University has started the admission for all the UG, PG, Diploma and Certificate courses under the January academic session 2026. 15 March 2026 is the last date to apply for the IGNOU admission at the Imphal RC.
Candidates can fill out the application form through a laptop and good internet connection which are available on the official website of IGNOU i.e. ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Students new to this admission process can read the following application steps.
IGNOU Imphal Regional Centre Admission Process 2026
- The admission process starts from the regional centre website rcimphal.ignou.ac.in.
- Once on the authorized site, click on “Student Corner” from the top left side of the page and click on “Admissions” from the left side list of functions.
- It will redirect you to another portal, and there click on “Student Services” and from there click on “Admissions”.
- Now tap on the mode you want to apply in, ODL or online, and step into the official page ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- First, register by entering the details such as the applicant’s name, mobile number, and email address, set a username, and password (It should be 6 to 9 alphanumeric characters and unique), and click on the “Register” button to finish the step.
- Secondly, sign in with the created password user ID, and captcha.
- After this, complete the form, and submit the scanned papers like the educational qualification mark sheets, category proof, the scanned photograph and signature of the candidate and so on.
- Go through the payment system using net banking, or debit or credit cards, and then pay the Rs. 300 registration charge.
IGNOU Imphal Regional Centre Faculties
Since 2006, Dr R.K. Ranjit Singh has been functioning as the senior regional director at the Imphal RC of IGNOU. The centre is known for its dedicated support to all students, through regular counselling sessions, useful study materials, and a well-stocked library. Other than these, the staff are dedicated to offering comprehensive help to learners through various training programs throughout the year.
The department provides local support to the students of the area, including assisting homemakers and working professionals seeking to enhance their educational qualifications. Furthermore, the RC has a parking lot with wheelchair accessibility.
