IGNOU Darbhanga Regional Centre: It started its journey as a Sub Regional department in April 2005, with a focus on providing education in the North Bihar region. In 2006, the RC was upgraded to a regional centre to meet the increasing number of enrollments. Later in 2011, the Saharsa Regional Centre was created out of the 8 regional departments under the Darbhanga regional office jurisdiction.
Furthermore, in 2013 the Siwan and Saran districts were moved from the Darbhanga RC to the Patna RC. Currently, Dr Shambhu Sharan Singh has been appointed as the senior regional director. Darbhanga RC has 10 districts under its jurisdiction, such as Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Gopalganj, and Sheohar.

- 15 March 2026 is the last date for the admission under the January academic session at IGNOU Darbhanga Regional Center.
- Candidates can also complete the re-registration process till the last date i.e. 15 March 2026. IGNOU Darbhanga RC also charges INR 200 as the last fees.

PG Diploma in Adult Education: Participatory Adult Learning, Documentation and Information Networking (PGDAE), PG Certificate in Rural Surgery (PGCR), and Certificate Program Teaching of Primary School Mathematics (CTPM). Also, regular programs in Master in Social Work (Philanthropy) (MSW) and Bachelor of Science (BSc).

IGNOU Darbhanga Regional Centre Admission Updates 2026
15 March 2026 is the last date to enroll into the IGNOU Admission for the January session at Darbhanga Regional Center for all the offered courses. For filling the application forms candidates can access the official website of IGNOU ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and also applicants can follow the steps mentioned in the next section for filling the admission forms.

IGNOU Darbhanga Admission Process 2026
- Copy and paste the URL of the IGNOU Darbhanga Regional Centre rcdarbhanga.ignou.ac.in on the preferred browser.
- On the homepage, from the About Us section click on the fresh admission link. This will prompt you to the official portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Once there, start with the registration and click on the “Click here for new registration” button.
- Provide the details such as username, password, name of the applicant, verification code, the valid mobile number and email ID of the student, and click on “Register”.
- Log in with the user ID and password, under the “Registered user login” section.
- After this section is over, make sure to enter the details on the online form.
- Select the course you want to learn, check the documents required and upload them, such as the educational certificates, signature and passport size photograph of the student, category certificate, experience proof, and all the papers should be scanned.
- Pay the fee of INR 300 on the portal using a debit or credit card, or net banking process and complete the application.
IGNOU Darbhanga Regional Centre Faculties
Dr. Shambhu Sharan Singh is leading the Darbhanga RC of IGNOU. The learner centre members, such as the teachers and other staff are dedicated to offering comprehensive support to all students.
The centre offers various counselling sessions, all types of study materials, administrative assistance to students so they can get better help with their studies and so on.
Other than these, the centre conducts training programs throughout the year and is equipped with a library and a digital notice board.
