IGNOU Bangalore Regional Centre: It was instituted in 1987 in Bangalore to coordinate University administration in Goa and Karnataka. On February 1, 1989, Shri Jeevraj Alva, the then Education Minister of the Government of Karnataka, inaugurated the establishment. Till September 1996, the department operated from the outbuilding of the Directorate of Collegiate Education, just close to the Vidhana Soudha.
Later, the administration moved to a larger building area in 1996, September at the address of, No.293, 39th Cross, Block 8, Jayanagar, Bangalore – 560 070. The senior regional director of this center is Dr. M Shanmugam.
This regional center in Bangalore operates through 4 major rules, promoting and developing an open study system in general, providing the programs through various centers, offering efficient student support in different regions, and providing better collaboration between the institutions and government and the students of the area. The RC Bangalore has a total of 41 study centers in different sections of the city.

IGNOU Bangalore Regional Centre Admission Updates 2026
Bangalore RC of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites the application forms in January and July. The last date for the admission is 15 March 2026. Applicants who are interested in pursuing their higher education from Bangalore regional Center can fill the admission forms from the official website of Bangalore RC i.e. rcbangalore.ignou.ac.in. Candidates are advised to follow the steps of the admission process to avoid any last minute mistakes.
IGNOU Bangalore Admission Process 2026
- For online admission, students are requested to visit the official website of their regional Centre first rcbangalore.ignou.ac.in.
- Here, at the top right side of the page, you can see the “Fresh Admission” tab and click on that button to get directed to the admission portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Next, click on the registration button at the left-hand side “Click here for new registration” and you will be prompted to the registration page. Add the details like your name, mobile number, and email address, create a username and password for login purposes, and complete the process.
- Now, log in using the username and password you created earlier and access your profile at IGNOU.
- Once this is over, complete the application form, input the asked information, choose the program you want to learn, and upload the scanned documents like educational qualifications, scanned signature, a photograph of the candidate, category certificate, etc.
- Pay the fee using the described methods there.
