
IGNOU Vatakara Regional Centre: It was separated from the Cochin RC and was instituted later as an individual regional study centre on 4 January 2011. The objective of this regional centre was to offer an open and distance education system in the Malabar region of Kerala. Dr Sindhu P Nair is the senior regional director at the Vatakara regional department.
The jurisdiction of the RC includes districts, such as Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and the Union Territory of Mahe. The current office of the regional centre functions from a hire area at Nut Street, Vatakara, Kozhikode district. Additionally, the Maniyoor Grama Panchayat, Vatakara has allotted two acres of land to the RC for its building, and the stone-laying ceremony was conducted on January 12, 2016.
The construction of the compound wall is finished. Vatakara Regional Centre has 18 learners’ facilities, which involve 2 special study centres, 5 program study centres, and 11 study centres. The admission is around 3500 each year in July and January sessions. At present the department has around 8000 students enrolled in various courses.

IGNOU Vatakara Regional Centre Offered Courses
The IGNOU Vatakara Regional Centre offers a vast array of programs like 15 MA, 1 non-credit, 20 certificates, 4 diplomas, 10 bachelor’s and 7 PG and advance diploma programs. The courses offered such as MA in Psychology, MBA, Post-Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Diploma in Creative Writing in English (DCE), Certificate in Consumer Protection (CCP), and Certificate in Performing Arts – Bharatnatyam (CPABN). The regular mode program offered is Bachelor of Science (BSc).
IGNOU Vatakara Regional Centre Admission Updates 2025
The enrollments at IGNOU are conducted two times a year, in July and January. For the upcoming July 2025 academic session IGNOU will commence the admission procedure for all the offered courses from 12 May 2025* and the last date will be 30 June 2025.
IGNOU Vatakara Regional Centre allows students to apply at the office, and they have to provide the relevant documents with a fee of Rs. 300. The online admission is almost similar to the in-person application, the only difference is that applicants have to upload the scanned documents of the papers and make online payment. The online application is in progress at the IGNOU Samarth portal, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

- Begin the process by venturing to the regional centre link rcvatakara.ignou.ac.in.
- At the top left-hand side of the page, click on “Student Corner” and click on “Admission”.
- In the next step, click on “Student Services” on the page and click on “Admissions”.
- After this, choose the mode you want to apply in and click on the button to access the next website ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Here, start the application for registration. Type your name, mobile number, email address, and verification code, create a unique username, and password and click on “Register” to complete the registration.
- Now, login and provide the login details and proceed with the form.
- Enter the required details, select an IGNOU program, and submit the scanned papers like the educational certificates, photograph and signature of the candidate, category certificate, and so on.
- Complete the application process by paying the Rs. 300 registration fees by net banking, or debit card.
