IGNOU Visakhapatnam Regional Centre: It was formed to provide higher education and efficient student support services in the area. It was founded on 29th March 2011 and was inaugurated by the Smt. Dr. D. Purandeswari Garu, Minister of State for HRD, Government of India. At present the regional centre is led by Dr. Dharmarao Gonipati, the senior regional director.
The RC covers 5 districts such as Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari and West Godavari. The department has 25 learner support offices under its jurisdiction. The regional centre is situated in MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam. The university established this department in this region to promote academic courses to the rural and remote area students. The city of Visakhapatnam is accessible by air, sea, rail and road transport. The bus and railway station are only 4 km away from the RC.

IGNOU Visakhapatnam Regional Centre Admission Updates 2025
Indira Gandhi National Open University will starts the admission procedure for all the offered courses under the July 2025 academic session from 12 May 2025* and the last date will be 30 June 2025*. IGNOU offers two types of enrollment procedures, online and offline. Students with no access to computer devices can visit the Visakhapatnam regional office, and enroll to a program by submitting the documents, and the fee.
For online admission, candidates have to open the website ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in, and provide the scanned papers relevant to the programs they have selected, and after paying the fee, students can get enrolled. IGNOU Visakhapatnam Regional Centre Admission Process 2025
- For the online application, access the Visakhapatnam RC official website rcvishakhapatnam.ignou.ac.in.
- On the homepage, click on “Fresh Admissions July 2025” under the left side “Quick Links” section to go to the next website ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Here, first, complete the registration by clicking on “Click here for new registration”. Enter the username, password, valid email ID, mobile number, the name of the student, and the verification code. Click on “Register”.
- Use the login initials created while registering under the “Registered user login” section and complete the login process.
- Access the online form, and add the required details like your name, mother’s maiden name, and other information. Now, choose the course you want to study, and upload the documents required for the program you have selected.
- The papers must be educational qualification documents, a scanned passport size photograph and signature of the applicant, work experience proof, a category certificate and other details.
- Proceed with the fee payment of INR 300, and you can use methods such as net banking, debit or credit cards.

IGNOU Visakhapatnam Regional Centre operates under the guidance of Dr. Dharmarao Gonipati, the senior regional director. Under the management of the director, the RC offers comprehensive support services such as study materials, a meeting hall, High-Speed Internet connectivity, and a teleconferencing facility.
The members help students with online admission, re-registration forms and exams. Students are also provided with a telephonic facility, library, EDUSAT facilities, pre and post-admission counselling, information centre, cafeteria, media notifications and others.
