IGNOU Certificate in Food and Nutrition Course Details

The total is 16 credits for the IGNOU Certificate in Food Nutrition course. Candidates will learn the subjects, such as You and Your Food, Your Food and its Utilisation, and Economics of Food, in the 6-month course. The IGNOU Certificate course in Foods and Nutrition gives specialisation in Food and Nutrition. 

The course is offered in various Indian languages such as Assamese, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, and Tamil, and students from any state or village of India can pursue this course. The CFN programme has three main courses: You and your food, Your food and its utilisation and Economics of food.

Candidates from any stream or discipline can go for the course. IGNOU will take the exam at the end of the course. Students will have to submit the assignments to pass the course with good grades.

The course will give students the basic knowledge about the food cycle, food nutrition, food safety, food and agriculture, nutrition in food, food services, etc. After the CFN certificate course, candidates can work as professional nutritionists, food service managers, public health nutritionists and so on.

The IGNOU CFN admission process will commence on 12 May 2025* under the July academic session. Candidates can apply through the IGNOU official website https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Candidates should have a stable connection to complete the online application procedure. The DEB ID is made mandatory by IGNOU for the admissions.   • After the page is opened, click on the “new registration” option to proceed further 
  • Now, add the name of the applicant, set the password and username, enter the mobile number and email address
  • You will receive a verification code to complete the registration 
  • After that, you can log in by using the registered user ID and password to start filling the application form for admission
  • In that form, candidates have submit few details such as Name, father’s name, mother’s name, mobile no, aadhar no or address and educational qualification 
  • Upload the scanned copies of the required documents that support your eligibility 
  • Now, the fee payment portal will open to pay the fee
  • After the fee payment, candidates are advised to have a hardcopy of application form or fee receipt 
  • Now, the candidates will get an email or message about the successful admission

  • Scanned copy of Educational qualification (if any)
  • Scanned copy of Current and permanent address proof
