Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers an Online Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC), which is a two-year program divided into four semesters. The university provides this course in Hindi, English, and Tamil in online mode. The total course fee is INR 23,000, which can be paid as INR 12,500 per year.

IGNOU Online MAJMC Course Details

The duration of the online MAJMC program is 2 years which can be extended to 4 years. Candidates who want to boost their career in the field of mass communication and journalism by enhancing their skills can definitely enroll in the MAJMC program from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

This course has 80 credits of which the learner has to complete 40 credits every year. A learner studies Journalism & Mass Communication, Reporting Techniques, Writing and Editing for Print Media, Broadcast and Online Journalism, Media and Society, Media Ethics Laws, Advertising & Public Relations, Communication & Media Studies, Communication Research Methods, Practical (Research Methodology), etc in MA in Journalism and Mass Communication. 

If an applicant does not want to continue after one year, such an applicant will get a diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism. The IGNOU has started the admission process for the Online MAJMC course in the January 2026 academic year, and the last date has extended to 15 March 2026. Candidates can visit the official university website portal @ignouiop.ac.in. to complete the admission formalities.

Steps to Apply for IGNOU Online MAJMC Admission 2026

  • As we have mentioned above the admission forms is available on the official website of IGNOU so the first step is that candidates have to visit the official portal of IGNOU i.e. https://ignouiop.samarth.edu.in for Online MAJMC registration.
  • Now, register yourself by clicking on the “New Registration” on the left side of the page and fill in all the necessary details required for the registration.
  • After the registration process, the candidate has to log in by clicking on “Registered User Login” on the right side of the page and entering Username, Password, and Captcha.
  • Now upload all the documents and complete the login process. 
  • Keep in mind to preview your form before submitting it.
  • Now make the payment via credit card, debit card, and internet banking and submit your admission form.
  • Now you will receive a mail on your registered mail ID confirming the successful submission of the application form.
  • The application will be reviewed by the official authority of IGNOU and if a candidate is selected he/she will receive an email on his/her registered mail ID to join as a student.

If any candidate is facing difficulty in filling out the admission form online they can also visit the regional center for the offline submission. After reaching the regional center candidates need to submit the hardcopy of the application form, the documents required and make the payment for admission.
