IGNOU Course Fee Structure 2026
The IGNOU fee structure for course is made by keeping the type of program, duration, and academic level in view. Unlike many conventional universities, IGNOU does not typically charge high tuition or development fees. Instead, students get to pay their program fee semester-wise so that they don’t feel the unnecessary financial burden.

The lowest fee structure at this university is that of a 6-months Certificate in Consumer Protection program. The total course fee for this program is INR 2,1000 (excluding the registration fee). At the same time, the highest course fee is for IGNOU MBA programs, which is INR 16,000 to 18,000 per semester.
IGNOU Fees Refund Policy
IGNOU updated its refund policies for several situations in the January 2023 admission cycle. As per that updated policy, if a student makes duplicate payments for the same program due to technical errors, the university keeps the fee for one valid admission and returns the remaining amount, including the registration fee.
When an application is rejected or cancelled by the university because of any reasons, the course fee is refunded after adjusting the registration fee. However, if the university itself withdraws a program, the entire amount paid by the students (including the registration fee) is returned to the student.
For students who choose to cancel their admission, the timing of the request determines how much amount will be refunded back to them. If the cancellation is made before admission is confirmed, the course fee is refunded but the registration fee is not returned.
After confirmation of admission, INR 500 is deducted and the rest is refunded after keeping the registration fee. If a student withdraws his/her admission within 90 days of the admission confirmation, then INR 1,000 is deducted from the total program course. After the period of 90 days is over, no refund is granted under any circumstances.
Refunds are generally credited back to the original mode of payment. Students who are eligible for a refund need to submit a written application or email request to the concerned Regional Centre.
