IGNOU PGJMC Admission 2025: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) also offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGJMC) for mass communication and journalism enthusiasts. This one-year program is offered by the School of Journalism & New Media Studies (SOJNMS) at IGNOU in Hindi, English, and Tamil languages.

After the successful completion of PGJMC, a candidate can take admission in the 2nd year of  MA in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC). Graduates can seek careers in various fields such as Broadcast Journalist, Public Relations Officer, Media Planner, Content Writer, etc.

IGNOU will invite the admission for the July session from 12 May 2025* and the last date for the admission will be 30 June 2025*. The candidates who have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution and great knowledge in MS OFFICE can apply for the admission by visiting the official website of IGNOU i.e. ignou admission.samarth.edu.in.

Candidates have to pay the registration fee of INR 300 and the total fee for the course is INR 12,500. Also a candidate can visit the regional center of IGNOU for the offline admission.

IGNOU PGJMC Course Details

This course offers 40 credits providing in-depth knowledge about the field of journalism and mass communication. This course covers subjects like Introduction to Journalism and Mass Communication, Reporting Techniques, Writing and Editing for Print Media, Broadcast and Online Journalism, Media and Society, Media Ethics and Laws, etc.

This program has 8 credits out of which six are theory courses and the rest four are practical courses. By pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from IGNOU a candidate will get the practical experience of the field with theoretical knowledge also.

• A candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a UGC-approved university.

To get admission to the IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGJMC), the candidate must have a laptop so that he can easily fill out the admission form from IGNOU’s official website @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Candidates can fill out the form by visiting the regional center and submitting a hard copy of the form.

NOTE:- DEB ID is mandatory for submission of application. Please create your DEB ID before starting the application process.

• Candidates need to visit the official portal of IGNOU i.e. https://ignouiop.samarth.edu.in for “New Registration”.
• Enter all the necessary details required for the completion of the registration process. 
• After the registration process now, Log in by clicking on “Registered User Login” on the right side of the page. 
• Enter the Username, Password, and Captcha, and upload all the documents required. 
• Now, recheck the application form before submitting it.
• Pay the course fees via credit card, debit card, and Internet banking and submit your application form.
• Now you will receive a mail on their registered mail ID confirming the successful submission of the application form.
• Also, save a screenshot of the payment for the proof. 
• If any candidate wants to cancel their admission then in that case they will not receive the Registration Fee. (according to the policy of the university)
